knock-off letters

I've been admiring {from afar} these, mesh letters over at Restoration Hardware.

However, $16 per letter is more than I would ever dream of paying.

I was in Michael's the other day and found these. 

These might work, right?

Instead of mesh, I use burlap.  I traced the letter and cut it out.

Glued the burlap on.

Gave a couple light coats of white paint all over. 

{will need a "hair" cut afterwards, gets a little frayed}

Then mixed brown acrylic paint to glaze. And wiped it on, then right off.

I really like the way they turned out. 

They found a home in our Bathroom for the girls towels.

{Burlap $0.40 for 1/8 yard}
{Project TOTAL $2.40... Sure beats $32!}
